Note: The following process can be used to get a list of "all kids in grade X" based on their birthday.

First, calculate the year in which children were born in. As an example, the school birth date cut off is September 1st; we are looking for children starting in 4th grade.

This can be done using the following formula:

Current Year - (grade+5) = Year children were born in for that grade

For our example, the equation looks like: 2014-(4+5)=2005. This means all fourth graders will have to be born on or before 9/1/2005 for the start of the school year in 2014

Now that the year has been established, the P9400 Core Individual Records report can be used to get the desired list:
 

1. Open P9400 & select any desired display fields
2. Click on Additional Filters & scroll down to Return based on Birth date or Age
3. Set first filter to Up to this Date or 1 Year before
4. Enter start of school year date (ie Sept 1) & year previously calculated
5. Run report

For this example, it will give you a list of all children born Sept 2, 2004 through Sept 1, 2005. This is the school year age for fourth graders in 2014.
