Relationships are a connection or association between individuals within FellowshipOne. In order to define the relationship, a relationship type must first be created.
- Note: When a Relationship Type is created, two security access rights are also created.
Relationship Roles
When you create a relationship type, you must create at least two roles per type. These roles define the participants in the relationship. Additional roles can be created after the first two have been established.
Examples of relationships & roles:
Relationship | Roles |
---|---|
Mentoring | Mentor Mentor/Protégé |
Big Brothers/Sisters | Big Brother/Sister Little Brother/Sister |
Counseling | Counselor Counseled |
Relationship Attributes
With Attributes you can create characteristics or qualities to further define relationships. Examples of relationship attributes:
- location (city, county, area, etc.)
- type of counseling (marriage, pre?marital, financial, substance abuse, etc.)
- organization (for example, state child protective services, alcoholics anonymous, etc.)
Creating Relationship Types
Before you can create relationships between people, you must first define relationship types. Relationship types consist of at least two roles & optionally attributes that further organize & define relationships. Keep in mind that more roles can be added once the initial two roles have been created. Order does not matter when entering role names. One role does not take precedence over another. Roles are simply a way to designate an individual's function within a relationship.
To create a relationship type:
- Go to Admin > People Setup > Relationship Types
- In Relationship Type table, click Add in upper?right corner
- In Add Relationship Type form, under Relationship name field, type name of relationship
- For example, Counseling
- In the Role 1 field, type name of first role,
- In the Role 2 field, type name of second role
- For example, Counselor & Counseled
- Click Add relationship type & New Relationship Type will appear in Relationship Type grid
