An online transaction will have an AVS (Address Verification Service) failure notice on it if the billing address entered does not match the billing address of the card. Even though the transaction will fail, there will still be a pending transaction on the contributor's account until the Merchant Account Provider releases it which may take a few days. This is standard for Bank/Credit Card transactions. FellowshipOne processes all Bank/Credit Card transactions through Cybersource.
If a transaction receives an AVS failure, there are two options:
First, find all AVS Failures within set date range:
- Login to Cybersource
- Click Transactions Search link in the left-hand side menu
- Click General Search
- Click radio button next to "Search for a reply"
- Select AVS Mismatch
- Set desired Search Date Range
- Click Search
- This displays all transactions that have an AVS failure in the date range set
OPTIONS:
Release pending transaction (recommended option)
- Click on the Request ID for desired transaction
- To the right under "Available Actions" select Full Authorization Reversal. This releases any pending transaction seen on the contributors bank account once the Merchant Account Provider also releases the funds.
Manually settle the transaction (NOT recommended)
- Click on the Request ID for desired transaction
- To the right under "Available Actions" select Settlement. This completes the transaction.
CAUTION:
- If this was a Scheduled Gift, the contributor has already been sent an email informing them their transaction had failed
- Verify if the contributor has given since the failed transaction to make up for the missed contribution
- This transaction WILL NOT show in FellowshipOne. A support ticket with Name, Date, Amount, & Merchant Reference number will need to be submitted in order for this to show in FellowshipOne
- If the authorization is over 48hrs old, the Merchant Account Provider may choose to not process the transaction for PCI Compliance reasons
