- Contributor has inadvertently typed the 3-digit Card Verification Code (CVC) on the back of the card incorrectly
Note:
- Each time the CVC is entered incorrectly the Authorization is successful but the Settlement fails
- CVC Code is not require for Online Giving or Event Registration Transactions
- Each time the CVC is incorrect a hold in the amount of the original transaction is associated with the card number
- Usually if no settlement processes in 3 business days (may vary for each issuing bank) the hold will automatically roll off
- If contributor cannot wait for the holds to roll off their bank will need to contact to ask them to remove the hold
