CyberSource Reason Code 230

  • Contributor has inadvertently typed the 3-digit Card Verification Code (CVC) on the back of the card incorrectly

Note:

  • Each time the CVC is entered incorrectly the Authorization is successful but the Settlement fails
  • CVC Code is not require for Online Giving or Event Registration Transactions
  • Each time the CVC is incorrect a hold in the amount of the original transaction is associated with the card number
  • Usually if no settlement processes in 3 business days (may vary for each issuing bank) the hold will automatically roll off
  • If contributor cannot wait for the holds to roll off  their bank will need to contact to ask them to remove the hold
