When a volunteer job opportunity requires a background check, the applicant must submit their Social Security Number when completing the Volunteer Application.
Ways to Collect Background Check Information:
- Paper Form Entry – Collect the information on paper & have ministry staff enter it into FellowshipOne.
- Weblink Volunteer Application – Publish the volunteer application on the church website for faster digital collection.
Manual Background Check Process
For organizations not using an integrated security company, background checks can be conducted manually & tracked in FellowshipOne.
Steps to Manually Conduct a Background Check:
- Collect the required information from the applicant.
- Submit the information to a background check provider.
- Navigate to People > Volunteer Pipeline > Verify Requirements.
- Select the Application.
- Click Accept or Reject as needed.
- Click on the individual's name.
- Scroll down to Requirements.
- Click Edit next to the background check requirement.
- Enter the Date.
- Select the Portal User.
- Click Browse to attach the background check results.
- Click Save this requirement.
Using this process ensures accurate tracking of volunteer background checks within FellowshipOne.
